Our story

From hotel Sundays to wedding Saturdays.

Larch & Lantern began as the house band for Sunday lunch at a hotel in Bowdon. Couples heard us between courses and asked whether we did weddings. By our second summer, weddings had taken over our Saturdays.

There are five of us, plus Sol, our DJ, who also plays the saxophone. We rehearse every Tuesday in a room behind a bike shop, and new songs join the set because couples ask for them, not because they are in the charts.

We play across Cheshire and Greater Manchester, from city hotels to barns at the end of farm tracks. The job is the same everywhere: get people up, keep them up, and finish on the song you picked.

Why couples choose us

Not one song on autopilot. The set list is where we start; the people dancing decide where it goes next.

  • Played live, not to a backing track

Every note you hear in a set is played in the room by the five of us.

  • One contact throughout

The same person answers your emails, fills in the plan with you and is there on the night.

  • A written note for your venue

A month before, your coordinator gets our power, space and timing needs in writing.

  • Dressed for the room

Dark suits and dresses that suit a formal room. No stage costumes unless you ask.

How we work

Three steps, then we play.

  1. Ask about your date

Tell us when and where, and which of our acts you like. A price comes back by return.

  2. Fill in the song sheet

About five weeks out, a one-page sheet covers the timings, your first dance and your favourites.

  3. Enjoy your day

We are ready before the first dance and play until your venue’s finish time.

  • Sample review

We danced until the lights came up. Our song sounded better than the record, and Nan was up for every Motown number.

  • Sample review

The duo made a windy garden ceremony feel calm, then the full band packed the barn. Sol kept it going until the taxis came.

Chloe and Aaron, HaleWedding, full day
  • Sample review

They kept to our song sheet and still knew exactly when to change gear. Friends are still talking about the 90s set.

    Niamh and Rory, SaleWedding, evening
