How to choose your first dance song

Your first dance lasts about three minutes, with every guest watching. A little thought beforehand makes it feel easy, whatever the song.
Start with the words, then check the tempo
Most couples choose a song for what it says. Before you settle, listen to the speed. A slow song gives you room to sway; a medium one suits a few simple steps. Unsure? Try it in your kitchen first.
Keep it short
Three minutes feels long when everyone is looking at you. We can trim a song to around two minutes with a proper ending, so it never just fades away.
Live or the original recording?
A live version feels special and lets us change the key, the length or the ending. If you have practised to the recording, we can play the original through our system instead and start the band straight after.
Plan the moment everyone joins you
Often the best moment of the night is the second song, when we call everyone up. Pick something upbeat for it, or leave the choice to us.
- Send your song when you book
- Say whether you want it live or recorded
- Pick a second song to bring everyone up
- Pass on any timing your photographer needs
