No. 03 · How we work

Three steps, then we play.

  1. Ask about your date

Tell us when and where, and which of our acts you like. A price comes back by return.

  2. Fill in the song sheet

About five weeks out, a one-page sheet covers the timings, your first dance and your favourites.

  3. Enjoy your day

We are ready before the first dance and play until your venue’s finish time.

How a full day usually runs

  1. An empty timber barn venue with a chandelier, fabric swags and a polished floor

    1:30 pm

    Vows and register

    Two of the band

An aisle song, quiet music while you sign, and a cheerful one to leave to.

  2. A singer with an acoustic guitar and harmonica in a stone room, with white flowers in the foreground

    2:15 pm

    Fizz and photos

    Unplugged covers

Familiar songs at a volume that leaves room for catching up.

  3. Long tables laid for a wedding breakfast in a timber barn with fabric swags

    5:00 pm

    Dinner and toasts

    Band sets up

Our system plays a dinner playlist and the speech microphones are ready.

  4. A couple dancing in the middle of a circle of guests holding sparklers

    7:45 pm

    Cake, then your song

    All five of us

Your first dance, arranged for the band and ending where you asked.

  5. Guests dancing and singing along at a reception, one man throwing his arms up

    8:10 pm

    First set

    Soul, pop and indie

Sixty minutes of live songs, then Sol while we take a breather.

  6. Black and white photo of a couple dancing as guests hold sparklers at night

    11:50 pm

    Carriages

    Your closer

The song you chose to finish on, ten minutes before the venue’s curfew.

Sample timings and illustrative stock photos. Yours go on your song sheet.

No. 04 · Why couples choose us

Not one song on autopilot. The set list is where we start; the people dancing decide where it goes next.

  • Played live, not to a backing track

Every note you hear in a set is played in the room by the five of us.

  • One contact throughout

The same person answers your emails, fills in the plan with you and is there on the night.

  • A written note for your venue

A month before, your coordinator gets our power, space and timing needs in writing.

  • Dressed for the room

Dark suits and dresses that suit a formal room. No stage costumes unless you ask.

No. 06 · Reviews

What couples said afterwards.

We danced until the lights came up. Our song sounded better than the record, and Nan was up for every Motown number.

No. 08 · Questions

Things couples usually want to know.

When do Saturdays tend to go?

Summer Saturdays are usually taken a year or more ahead. Weekdays, Sundays and winter dates are easier. Ask about any date and we will look.

Can you play our first-dance song?

Yes. Send it when you book and we will arrange it for the band, or play the recording if you would rather dance to the version you know.

What does the venue need to provide?

Two ordinary sockets near where we play, about 5 metres by 3 of floor, and a time for us to unload. We confirm the limiter and finish time with them.

How is payment split?

A deposit secures the date once we have confirmed it, and the rest is due a fortnight before. Both amounts are on your quote.

No. 09 · Get a quote

Got a date? We’ll check it.

When, where, and which music: that is all we need to start, and it takes about a minute.

When and where is it?

Roughly is fine. We check the date before anything else.

What is the occasion?
